Swift events during Heritage Week

Heritage Week kicks off next week (19th-26th August) throughout the country. Nowhere is busier for the week than Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. The building is hosting 35 separate events from Bellringing to quiz nights.

Included in the line up are three events relating to Swift.

Swift, Dean and Banker with Brendan Twomey
24th of August at 14.30
Join historian Brendan Twomey for a talk exploring the fascinating history behind a micro finance scheme which Swift ran during his time in Dublin. Registration required.

Swift as Dean with Albert Fenton
25th of August at 14.30
Join cathedral historian and author Albert Fenton to hear about Swift’s eventful tenure as Saint Patrick’s cathedral’s most famous and controversial Dean. Registration required

The Long Shadow of Lilliput; World Con discussion forum
26th of August at 15.30
A panel discussion on the writings of Jonathan Swift and his influence on modern science fiction and fantasy. With CE Murphy (author of Walker Papers series, The Negotiator Trilogy, and the Inheritor’s Cycle), Brian Nisbet, Peadar Ó Guilín and James Shields. Registration required
