A Modest Proposal

The Salvage Press, a press devoted to preserving excellence in typography and letterpress printing, have reprinted A Modest Proposal – Swift’s biting satire that still has the power to shock. Designer and typographer Jamie Murphy has composed and printed the type by hand. A series of lithographs have been commissioned to accompany the text from artist David O’Kane, alongside a suite of new poems by poet Jessica Traynor. Only 35 copies will be published.

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum invites you to join them for a panel discussion with the artists on the various ancient and modern processes that went into bringing this exciting multidisciplinary project to life, and for a rare opportunity to glimpse the finished book, all in the company of renowned Swift expert Andrew Carpenter.

Tickets to this event are free, but as capacity is limited advance booking is required.
